DEAL OF THE WEEK CONTEST
Winner: Mike Hammond, North Carolina, USA (76 Entries)
Solution

This week's deal comes in the form of a contest. The deal is a double dummy problem. That means you get to see all four hands and then must come up with the correct line of play to make the contract. You must also assume best defense by your opponents (as if they could see all four hands as well). You will have until Friday April 25 at 12:00 midnight (EST) to submit your answer. The winner will be randomly drawn from among the correct answers. On April 28, we will post the answer along with the winner as well as a new Deal of the Week for which you can win another prize.

The prizes for the Deal of the Week are courtesy of Liberty Travel and Icelandair in conjunction with World Bridge Productions, inc. who are organizing the Cavendish Invitational Pairs Tournament. This tournament will be held in Las Vegas, May 9-11, at the Mirage Hotel. Bridge Base Inc. will be providing Online Vugraph of the tournament.

The prize for this week's deal is a round trip airline ticket, courtesy of Liberty Travel, to Las Vegas, Nevada. This ticket is for 1 week and can be used any time within a year from any departure site in the United States. You might want to use it to come down and see the action at the Cavendish!

In order to view the Deal of the Week you need a Java compatible browser (such as Netscape Navigator 2.02 or higher or Microsoft's Internet Explorer 3.0). You also need 32-bit internet access, which generally means Windows 95 if you are using a PC.

It seems that several people have not read the instructions for this software and have become confused. If you do not want to read the instructions, here are two useful hints:

  1. Use the Next button, not the Play button to go forward.
  2. Look for thebutton in the lower right corner of the text area. When you see this symbol it means there is more text to read before you click the Next button. Click thebutton to display the next page of text.
